Spring Lake Schools Foundation

The Spring Lake Schools Foundation was established in 1983 to provide new and innovative educational experiences for Spring Lake students. It has sponsored the ongoing Leave Your Mark–Buy a Brick campaign, the Dinner Theater for the high school musical, and a 5k run–Run for Fun, Fitness, and Foundation. In addition, they hosted the Oktoberfest half marathon and 5k run. A few examples of the programs that have benefited from the Foundation’s fundraising efforts as well as generous community contributions include the following:

• Outdoor Science Greenhouse Center
• Trade books for the Ten Core Democratic Values in 2nd grade
• Grand piano for the high school music department
• Checkbook math program in the middle school, and
• STARS mentoring program

Mission Statement

To assure educational excellence for all students, the mission of the Spring Lake Schools Foundation is to increase cooperation between school, business, and other sectors of the community and secure appropriate resources to develop programs which will enhance the quality of education.

The Spring Lake Schools Foundation was incorporated in 1983 as a nonprofit organization under IRS 501(c)(3). It exists to assist and support the public school system of Spring Lake Public Schools, Spring Lake, Michigan, in the development, implementation, and/or maintenance of educational programs that contribute to the education of Spring Lake Public School District students. The Spring Lake Schools Foundation is an endowed fund of the Grand Haven Area Community Foundation.

Literacy Intervention Library

There are five big ideas within the art of teaching reading: phonetic awareness, alphabetic knowledge, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. This library includes one research-based program to meet each of these areas for lower elementary and one program for each area for upper elementary.
